Division 2 it is for St Pats
Its probably come as no surprise for many that St Pats have been relegated to the second division as they put in a first division display against a limp Newtownbutler. Being in a similar position year after year St Pats surrendered to division 2. St Pats played very well in the opening minutes notching over early points which was followed up by a goal from Michael McGrade, Fergal O'Reilly came close minutes later as he tried to slot the ball into the bottom left hand corner but Gary O'Neill denied St Pats their second goal, it took Newtown 20mins to realise they were in a match and today they were the only team that had nothing to play for. St Pats added further scores from Shane McDermott and Pat Cadden and Eamon Maguire got a second goal. Oisin Boyle was through on goal when he was illegally taken down in the box, a penalty was awarded and Pat Cadden calmly dispatched to give St Pats a 9 point lead. Martin Collins was shown a red card before the break, it wasn't clear exactly what Martin had done but Cleary seen something.Half time score read St Pats 3:06 Newtownbutler 0:06

The second half was a fair enough tussle but with St Pats leading by 9points it was theirs to lose. 3 more goals were added in this half as St Pats ended their goal scoring spree with 6, further goals from Paul McManus, Eamon Maguire and Shaun Montgomery. The final score was St Pats 6:09 Newtownbutler 0:12 St Pats have now been relegated to the second division the other team to be relegated is yet to be decided as its between Enniskillen and Derrygonnelly. The possibility that Derrygonnelly could be relegated is just unbelievable as they are the current champions of Fermanagh, its quiye possible the the 08 and 09 Fermanagh champions could be in Division 2 for 2010.

St Pats not gone yet but close!
Devenish dealt St Pats their second defeat in succession as the St Pats boat is about to capsize to Division 2. St Pats started very well in the first half with Gary Maguire and Pat Cadden added to many of the St Pats scores. A strong breeze would favour both sides as it blew in the direction of the changing rooms in Devenish and St Pats did use it well in the opening 30mins. Paul Cosgrove was controlling midfield and Shane McDermott doing is usual role from centre half back. Devenish were well rattled in the first half but St Pats just could extend their 5 point lead any further and lead at the break with a scoreline Devenish 0:04 St Patrick's 0:09

The second half had Devenish using the wind to their advantage and shooting from long range with John O'Flannagan recording some of their scores, then came the break through with Devenish closing the St Pats lead a high ball played across the St Pats box wasnt dealt with and was punched into the back of the St Pats net, no one claiming responsibility on the St Pats side. St Pats never surrendered to this and kept pressing with Devenish up by one St Pats soon had the game level again. Then the second blow from Devenish a ball again played across the goal line was not dealt with by the St Pats keeper looped into the net and this was sure to be the game over. St Pats battled hard in more ways than one, yes the refereeing wasn't up to standard and St Pats over exuberance cost them two players by way of Gary Maguire and Paul Cosgrove, its unsure yet if Devenish had a man dismissed as one player was shown 2 yellow cards and was'nt sent off. Final Score Devenish 2:08 St patrick's 0:12 St Pats now looking like the first casualties for the drop but not certain yet. Next game is at home to Newtownbutler were a win then will give them some glimmer of survival.

Sunday 4th October
Roslea do the treble over St Pats as the relegation battle heats up!
Roslea Shamrocks beat St Pats for the third time this season as they move closer to a league semi final spot. The shamrocks bounced back well from the their championship final thrashing that Derrygonnelly and answered a few critics as they try to make their way into the league semis. A under strength St Pats side made a very good start and were very much reliant on Pat Cadden for their scores as he recorded St Pats first three points. Roslea were always within one score of St Pats and played their best spell in the last 10mins of the first half to go in at half time leading 8points to 5 points.

St Pats now needed to up their game in the second half if they were to salvage anything in this one, but that wasn't to be, Roslea kept their heads down and scores from Quigley made sure Roslea would hold on, and that they did, the final score was St Pats 0:08 Roslea 0:13. The next game for St Pats is a tricky away tie to Devenish and points are at a premium now as any two of four teams can be relegated.

Teemore Shamrocks win Ingram Tournament final

Teemore Captain Declan McDonnell receives the Ingram Cup from Ronan Ingram as Teemore recorded a huge win over St Pats in the final. Goals from Gerry Quinlan in the first half and Drum in the second half setup Teemore with an easy win in the end. Final Score St Pats 2:07 Teemore 3:20

Sunday 13th September
St Pats claim all the points at Donagh
St Pats gained 2 valuable points at home to Belcoo on Sunday afternoon. A much win was needed and the boys delivered. Pat Cadden had a fine hours football as he recorded 6 points for himself. The game played in glorious sun shine was a close affair in the first 30 mins. Belcoo started the brighter as St Pats left it to near the end of the first half to put together back to back scores. The half time score read St Pats 0:05 Belcoo 0:05

The second half saw a turn a round as St Pats started the brighter this time round and for the first time in the geame looked likely to go on and win this one. St Pats went 3 points clear mid way through the 2nd half and were cruising at this stage, however Belcoo were not undone just yet and managed to bring the game level again. St Pats made a few switches and then clicked as a unit and points from Pat Cadden, Michael McGrade and Eamon Maguire put St Pats back in front and ran out two point winner in the end. Final Score St Pats 0:13 Belcoo 0:11 for St Pats Pat Cadden had a fine hour as to did Paul Cosgrove who played the best of his football in the later stages of the second half, Eamon Maguire was busy and Shane McDermott was a tower of strength at center half back. All in all St Pats gained two valuable points as they try to creep out of the drop zone. Other results today were

St Pats U16 fail to reach Championship Final
St Pats attempt at reaching 2 consectutive 16 Championship finals came to a halt yesterday as they were dumped out by Roslea. Roslea are making a habit of dumping St Pats out of championships and yesterdays battle at Aughadrumsee proved this point. This one went to the wire as Roslea won it in added time by the minimum. Final Score Roslea 1:12 St Patrick's 2:08 Roslea now make it a double date on the 26th of September as to does Derrygonnelly as both clubs will now contest the U16 and Senior Championship finals. Best of luck to both clubs in their respective finals.

St Pats too hot for Enniskillen
The St Pats U16 boys are into the next round of the championship this evening with a 5 point win over Enniskillen Gaels at Maguiresbridge. Having already beaten St Pats in the league final this year and once in the earlier stages of the league the Gaels were surely favourites, however having been beaten in the championship final last year St Pats are looking to go one better this time round. St Pats commanded the game from the throw in and lead throughout with Ruairi McGrade a leading presence throughout the pitch. A Brian McDermott goal mid way through the first half kept Enniskillen out of reach. In the odd accasion that the Gaels threatened the St Pats goal Mattie McGrade was on call to deny them at each attempt. Overall a solid display for St Pats with Cahir McElroy and Ryan Treacy 2 individuals who stood out. Next up is Roslea in the Semi Final. Final score in this one was St Patrick's 1:10 Enniskillen 0:08.

Matt Ingram Tournament
St Pats and Teemore qualify for Matt Ingram tournament final. St Pats overcame Derrylin in Wednesday nights semi final and Teemore beat Lisnaskea in Thursday evenings 2nd semi final. St Pats Juniors take Division 2 Honours
St Pats Juniors claimed the Erne Cup Division 2 title on Saturday evening at Derrylin against Belnaleck. The game was no spectacle but both sides battled well for the full hour. St Pats always in command notched over early scores with Eugene Cadden getting the first from play. Wet conditions didn’t help in any way and hard tackling was very evident as both sides tried to get to grips with each other. Midfield would prove to be the most important position in the field as breaking ball went in favour of St Pats. Belnaleck probably created more scoring chances in the first half than St Pats but could not put them away, Full Back for St Pats Brian O’Reilly was substituted mid way through the first half and Conor O’Neill replaced him, Kevin McGorman moved to full black were he proved to be a pivotal figure for the remainder of the game. The second half continued quite similar to the first however St Pats could pull away any further than three points and when Michael McGrade approached in on O’Connors goal thoughts were that this was the break though for St Pats but the Belnaleck keeper parried away McGrades shot. Confidence was now instilled in the Belnaleck side and they created scoring chances of their own, St Pats defending was raw at times and presented Belnaleck with scorable frees. Belnaleck nearly went in front when a high ball was fisted against the St Pats crossbar, the resulting shot had Shaun Montgomery pointing a great score at the other end to keep St Pats in front. Oision Boyle also slotted over sometime later. These scores proving crucial as the ref insisted in playing over 4 minutes injury time, St Pats hung to claim a one point victory and claim the Erne Cup 2 for the second time in 4 years. For St Pats Niall Grue had a great game in the defence as too did Kevin McGorman, Martin Collins won the midfield battle while up front Montgomery and McGrade linked well. No promotion for St Pats this time round and this brings the curtain down on the 2009 season for the juniors.

Friday 21st August 2009
Quigley goals seal St Pats Fate

Goals from Seamus and Sean Quigley lead the way for Roslea as they move into the Senior Football championship semi finals. With less than 5 minutes played Seamie Quigley had found the net with an opportunist’s goal. A high ball ricocheted of the crossbar and the full forward fisted it into the back of the St Pats net. Roslea raced into an early lead 1:02 to no score. Indeed at this stage the St Pats team needed to find some of the championship spirit that they had last year, St Pat's did manage a score from Eamon Maguire via a free kick but scoring chances were few as limited supply of ball was played into Gary Maguire and Pat Cadden, however despite the lack of ball St Pats nearly found the net themselves as Jason Cadden almost dispatched a carbon copy to Quigley's goal but struck the upright instead of finding the net. St Pats were then rocked again with a Roslea break, Cassidy played the ball through the middle and Roslea were pushed to wing from their they played a cross field ball into the St Pats penalty area, the ball wasn’t gathered by the St Pats defence and Sean Quigley pounced for their second goal as he too fisted to the back of the net. With half time approaching this set up Roslea nicely for the second half as they would then have the wind at their backs. Half Time score Roslea 2:02 St Pats 0:02

The second half was indeed a much closer affair as both teams battled for early scores but it was the ever energetic Roslea lads which made the better work with the wind at their backs. Towards the latter stages of the second half St Pats started to play a bit better and were beginning to show weaknesses in the Roslea defence. The lead that Roslea had built in the first half was always going to be enough as St Pats forwards lived of scraps for the best of the hour. Roslea ran out winners with a score line Roslea 2:06 St Pats 0:06. For St Pats it was a frustrating night as breaks or that little bit of luck you make for yourself just wasn’t there and Roslea's hard work deserved them of the win, this Roslea team will take some beating now as they are the in from team at the moment and indeed the team to beat. St Pats now have 4 league games remaining as they try and secure division one status for 2010.

St Pats U16s lose League Final
The St Pats U16s lost their league final game against Enniskillen on Thursday evening played in Tempo. The game went to extra time and Enniskillen pulled of a four point win at the end. The boys look forward to the Championship now and we hope they can go one better in that competition.

Juniors book place in league final

St Pats juniors have booked their place in this years Division 2 Junior league final against Belnaleck. A repeat fixture of the 07 Division 3 final when Belnaleck were victorious on that occasion. The St Pats men overcame a spirited effort from a Derrylin side who already beaten them in the league at Derrylin already this year, maybe this was revenge as that defeat denied St Pats of a playoff against the 2nd bottom team from Division 1. The semi final played at Lisnaskea was played in good spirit throughout and St Pats had the lead for the majority of the game. Derrylin scores mainly came from Perci Curry who was able to record scores on both feet and from any such angle. For St Pats scores came by way of Emmelyn Melarkey via a frees and from Vinny McDermott and Eugene Cadden, Cadden also recorded a goal which kept St Pats leading towards half time.

The second half was a much closer affair, sides traded points and with minutes from the end Derrylin were only one point away from drawing the game, that point was never got and Jamie Treacy slotted over from 40 yards to give St Pats a 2 point lead with normal time up, Derrylin did have chances towards the end to grab a goalas they played high balls into Gilheaney but tenacious work by the St Pats full back line and goalkeeper kept the St Pats men in the lead and indeed into the final. For St Pats Martin O’Reilly had a comfortable hour at midfield, Vinny McDermott linked well with play into the forwards and in the back line Colm O’Reilly and Niall Grue put in a solid performance. Final Score St Pats 1:09 Derrylin 0:10. Date and time for the final yet to be confirmed. Best of luck to Derrylin as they bid for promotion to Division 1.

Points are shared in Tempo

St Patrick’s and Tempo played out a draw in this Friday evening fixture. The game was played with rain and a steady breeze. Tempo rallied into a 6 points to 1 point lead early in the first and it was late in the first half before St Pats started to put some play together and notch over some scores. St Pats scorers were mainly Eamon Maguire from frees and Paul Cosgrove who scored 2 from play as he put in a great display in the latter stages.  For Tempo Daryl Keenan was a menace at full forward as the St Pats defence had a hard time at keeping him at bay and resorted to fouling in scoreable areas in which Damian Kelly happily slotted over. The half time score read Tempo 0:06 St Pats 0:05

The second half began as the dark started to set in, St Pats recorded the first score and Jason Cadden followed up this score with frees off the ground to put St Pats in the lead. Both sides were playing it safe and mid way through the second half Tempo were awarded a penalty. A ball played into the St Pats penalty area bounced over most plaers and Seamus Breen was shouldered in the back and the referee had no option but to awarded a penalty, Daryl Keenan dispatched the penalty into the right hand post, a well taken penalty to put Tempo in the lead. St Pats did respond with their own scores and Jason Cadden added further frees to keep St Pats in it. Then what was thought to be the match winner, Michael McGrade came off the bench to slot in a goal, the second time in 3 weeks he done this and  St Pats were back in front. Tempo added a further score to draw the game and thats how it finished. Final Score Tempo 1:12 St Patricks 1:12. For St Pats Shane McDermott lead from centre half back, Paul Cosgrove put in a solid hours work and Fergal o’Reilly and Jason Cadden were effective especially in the last 20minutes.  Check the link above to see how the team sits now in the league.

A close shave as St Pats move into the Quarter Finals of the Championship

St Patrick’s senior men booked their place in the championship quarter finals after a laboured encounter with a tenacious Erne Gaels side. The Belleek team came to Enniskillen with nothing lose and played the reigning senior champions well for the hour and probably left disappointed that they didn’t get a result. The St Pats men went into an early lead with Points from Eamon Maguire and Pat Cadden, while Erne Gaels responded to these scores they would rue too many chances throughout this game to establish any sort of a lead. A Jason Cadden goal mid way through the first half showed signs that St pats might run away with this one but Erne Gaels were always one or two scores behind at any stage in the first half. The half time score read St Patrick’s 1:04 Erne Gaels 0:05.

In the second 30minutes St Pats started to find some shape and added two points, one from Pat Cadden and the other from Eamon Maguire.  This followed up by two more scores and Erne Gaels could only respond with one score. However the Intermediate champions were creating plenty of scoring chances but not converting enough of them. This one could have been an upset had the Gaels put together one or two score, a goal was scrambled over the line but when the questioned were asked of St Pats they answered and probably done just enough to get the win. For St pats Shane McDermott was a pivotal figure and Eamon Maguire was busy over the park, Ryan Daly also had a good performance as too did Eamon McDermott, Pat Cadden went off injured mid way through the second half nothing serious reported as yet and we wish him a speedy recovery.

St Pats U12s suffered a heavy defeat to Enniskillen in the U12 league and will play Kinawley in Donagh this Saturday at 4pm.

Wednesday 5th August 2009

St Pats U16 boys recorded a massive win over Derrygonnelly in a refixed league match played at Louis Leonard memorial park Donagh. The St Pats boys found them selves in the lead form the first 5mins and never looked back, the final score read St pats 6:25 Derrygonnelly 0:05, For St Pats Brian McDermott and Andrew Little scored goals and in midfield Ruairi McGrade and Cormac McElroy featured heavily in creating play, there was also fine performances from Philip McGolderick and Kevin Curran, the U16s next game is Thursday 6th August at 7:30pm against Kinawley at Donagh.

Ederney U12 boys too stong for St Pats as they run out winners in this afternoons U12 football league game played at Donagh. Ederney won by 8 points in the end, St Pats tried hard but couldnt manage scores when it mattered overall a good effort by the lads and hopefully they will get back to winning ways in their next outing.

"Donagh boys earn valuable 2points"

St Pats seniors earned an invaluable 2 points at Donagh in a very competitive battle with Derrygonnelly. St Pats started the most lively in the opening quarter but despite alot of possession just couldnt make it count on the score board. Derrygonelly playing agaionst the wind in the first half battled hard to get scores and did so through Jones and ward from frees. Half time score St Patricks 0:04 Derrygonnelly 0:03

With the minimum seperating the sides it was all to play for in the second half. Again from the throw in St Pats dominated the first 10 mins of this half and found them selves six points up at one stage, points coming from Eamon Maguire and a goal and point from Pat Cadden. The game was turned when Derrygonnelly were awarded a penalty from wat looked like a foot block on Jonathan McGurn, Kevin Cassidy stepped up and dispatced into the bottom corner of Pat Quailes goal. The come back was on, Derrygonnelly then added further scores from Jones and Ward and within 10 mins of going 6 behind Derrygonnelly was level. With minutes left Derrygonnelly then added a further score to make it St Pats 1:08 Derrygonnelly 1:09. St Pats won the resulting kick out from Derrygonnellys last score drew level. Now winning ball around midfield St Pats pressed for a winner and from an acute angle Pat Cadden pointed to put St Pats in front. This was then followed up by the move of the match were Eamon Maguire won a breaking ball on the St Pats 45, Maguire played one twos up the pitch to slot over, St pats now 2 up, Michael McGrade was introduced late in the game and has had a habbit of upsetting Derrygonnelly if yopu remember it was he who got the winning point in the Championship final, well mickey put the game beyond doubt when he tucked away a late goal which looped over the Derrygonnelly keeper making the final score St Patricks 2:11 Derrygonnelly 1:09

Sunday 26th July 2009
"14 man Gaels do enough"

This game was a much win one for both sides and battling against a strong gail blowing westerly was added tension for players and supporters. In the first half St Pats only managed one score which came via a free kick which Pat Cadden dispatched. Enniskillen were managing very well with the wind at their backs and Colm Bradley being their most effective forward was apart of every attack. The gaels lead 1:05 to St Pats 0:01 at the interval. The second half was a very stop start 30mins and Enniskillen were taking advantage of every second that could be wasted holding a three point lead for the most of the second half. St Pats did get a goal early in the second half and when Keenan got his marching orders a comeback did look likley, however that wasnt to be, Tom Brewster calmly scoring frees for the gaels always kept them in front. In the end St Pats couldnt find a way back into this one and the final score read St Patrick's 1:05 Enniskillen Gaels 1:09

"St Patricks up the tempo"

St Pat’s senior team pulled of a great performance against Tempo in round 11 of the senior football league. This game should probably have been a starred round if common sense had prevailed in fixing those rounds but never the less St Pats are happy with the points. Leading throughout the game St Pats never really looked likely in letting this one slip and it was Pat Cadden who recorded St Pats both goals one from play and the other from the penalty spot. The penalty came in the second half when Eamon Maguire was taken down inside the box. The second half indeed was full of incident as Ryan Keenan seen a straight red and so to did his fellow county team mate Rory Foye. The game was played in good spirit throughout and St Pats snatched a valuable 2 points. Patrick Quaile sustained a knee injury late in the game and Pat Cadden went to goals and while there did not manage to keep a clean sheet. Next up for St Pats is a home match against Enniskillen were both teams are looking for much needed points.

Final Score St Patrick’s 2:12 Tempo 1:07

Friday 17th July 2009

St Pats seniors lose at home to Devenish
St Pats seniors lost there Friday night fixture at home to Devenish by 8 Points as Devenish reclaim top spot in the league and St Pats move into bottom place and into the relegation zone. Devenish were on top of this game from the start and provided some fine scores throughout. St Pats never looked like they could match Devenish for pace and only managed 1 point in the first half. The second half was a little better than the first half as St Pats pushed forward for scores but overall this was a poor match. Devenish will no doubt come away with some positives as they make further advances at trying to retain the league title this year. Final Score St Patricks 1:05 Devenish 1:13

St Pats Juniors launch a raid in Brookeborough
St Pats juniors launched a raid on the Brookeborough side as this was a game of two halves. Brookeborough raced into a huge lead in the first half leading 9 points to 1 at the interval, Damian Moane and Karl Green the providers for the home team with Eugene Cadden getting the only St Pats score. Going into the second half facing an 8 point defecit the St Pats team was reshuffled and Michael McGrade was introduced to the full forward line. With 10 minutes of the second half played St Pats had turned the 8 point defecit into a 2 point lead, with 2 Goals and 1 point from McGrade and a goal from Eugene Cadden. It was nearly to good to be true. Having only scored once in the first half St Pats scored 5:10 in the second and it was Brookeborough who only scored one point in the second half. St Pats now move level with derrylin in 2nd place and both sides have to meet yet in the league. Final Score Brookeborough 0:10 St Patrick's 5:11

Wednesday 17th June
JFL St Pats lose at home to Belnaleck in midweek refixed Game.
The St Pats juniors stumbled to defeat as they failed to get into this encounter. A low scoring first half saw the visitors lead 0.03 to 0.01 at the interval. The first half was no spectacle of football and a strong wind didnt help in the second half. Belnaleck notched over further scores to keep themselves in the lead and St Patricks efforts faultered at the end and could not manage a goal which the game required. Final Score St Patricks 0.04 Belnaleck 0.08. St Pats are now 3rd in teh league table, still in a position for a Div2 semi final. Due indiscipline the Belnaleck V Lisnaskea game has been declared void so neither team collect points in that one.

Sunday 14th June
SFL Pat Cadden free kick ensured points are shared at Teemore
The points were shared in this encounter as St Pats left it to the second half to play all their football. The first half saw Teemore race into an early lead with points from Fitzpatrick and a goal from Quinlan. A high ball was played into the St Pats defence and the St Pats full back failed to gather the high ball and Quinlan found himself straight in on goal which he found the net, goal keeper Pat Quaile did get a hand to it but couldnt keep it out. There was some good spells of football in the first half but St Pats only managed 2 points in the first 30 minutes of football and did miss some needed scores especially a goal chance before the break.

Scorer of equalising point against Teemore

The second half started with St Pats gaining the upper hand, trailing by 6 at the break they needed to put in an huge effort to salvage something fom this game and that they did. Fergal O'Reilly was winning every ball at midfield and Shane McDermott was cutting through the Teemore defence to setup attacks. The full forward line was getting better supply and Gary Maguire, Pat Cadden and Eamon Maguire all notched over scores. Teemore were making play but the St Pats defence were starting to cope with the high ball and building from the turnovers. Teemore were very reliant on Sean Curry for their scores and it was Curry who scored all Teemores points in the second half and actually ended up with 6 points for homself in this game. The game was looking likely for a Teemore win withj tiome almost up and 1 point in it to Teemore, but with a few injuries there was added time and in this added time Pat Cadden won a free about 30 yards out near the sideline, if he were to point this then the game would surely be over and that he did. with that the final whistle went and a much needed point was secured. For St Pats Fergal O'Reilly and Joe McGovern worked hard in the middle, Shane McDermott was the leading force in the defence while up fronmt Gary Maguire and Pat Cadden were effective with some fine shooting. Final Score Teemore 1:09 St Patrick's 0:12

JFL St Patricks record historic win over Lisnaskea
You would have to go back at least 10years since St Pats last beat Lisnaskea Emmetts in Junior football, indeed current manager Patrick Ingram may have been playing back then. The refixed Junior league game with local rivals Lisnaskea was played in good spirit. Lisnaskea opened the coring with points from Thomas Maguire. St Pats replied with scores of their own through Shaun Montgomery and Emmelyn Melarkey. It was in the 10th minute when St Pats found themselves in the lead, a pass played into Eugene Cadden found himself open towards the goal and he cooly dispatched past Sean Neeson. The both teams traded point for the next 15 mins and then a opportunists goal from Vincent McDermott put St Pats 6points up at the interval.

Vincent McDermott

Scored 2:01 St Patrick's V Lisnaskea

Its well known, especially in junior football that a 6 point lead can be easily turned around and this couldnt have been more true as the Emmetts started a come back, points from Maguire and Collins had the game back to the minimum. Lisnaskea did push to get in front but some great defensive play from Oisin Boyle and Stephen Collins kept St Pats in the driving seat. The game was very much up for grabs in the last quarter but it was St Pats who gained the upper hand, Jamie Treacy was moved to midfield and while there he dominated the high balls and set the St Pats forwards up for much needed scores both coming from acute angles. The game was all but wrapped up when a through pass played McDermott in on goal which he slotted past Neeson to help snatch a 5 point win for St Pats. For the home team Hugh O'Reilly and Oisin Boyle had solid performances as to did Jamie Treacy and Eugene Cadden. Overall a very good team effort from a depleted St Pats side. Final Score St Patricks 3:10 Lisnaskea 1:11

"Second defeat in 3 days for St Pats Seniors"

St Patrick's recorded their second defeat of the new season with a mid week game played away to Belcoo. The evening fixture was all but wrapped up in the first ten minutes when Belcoo raced into a huge lead with a goal and six points before St Patrick's managed a score. The Belcoo rampage was settled mid way through the first half but St Pats could only manage 2 points in the opening half and Belcoo probably should have led by more at the interval. Half time score Belcoo 1:06 St Patrick's 0:02
The second half was a stop and start affair as both sides lost players through injuries but St Pats playing with the wind at the their backs still couldnt close the gap enough to get themselves back into this tie. Belcoo threatened the St Pats goal but a superb save from Patrick Quaile denied a greater lead for them. St Pats did tag over scores in the second half through Shane McDermott and Jason Cadden and did create some goal opportunites but deflections and crossbars denied the Pats boys of any chance in gundering scores. The final score was Belcoo  1.10 v St Patricks  0-06. This defeat has came now just as the league breaks up for the county to gather for the Ulster Championship and will resume after the 17th May.

"New comers St Josephs teach St Pats a lesson"

New comers to the Senior football league Division 1 St Josephs taught senior champions St Patricks a lesson or two on sunday afternoon at Louis Leonard Memorial Park. The Ederney men went away with the 2 points claiming their first in the top league. St Pats started well in this encounter but Ederney were within 1 or 2 points at any stage of the game and St Pats were depending mostily on Pat Cadden, Eamon Maguire and Gary Maguire for their scores in the first half. Ederneys target man Enda Ferris doing the damage for them when called to action. The game although played in very wet conditions was played at good spirit throughout. The second half saw the home side relying mainly on frees to keep them in the game with Eamon Maguire executing each successfully and 2 mistakes in the St Pats defence cost the home side the game, Ederney punishing St Pats on both occasions finding the net. Final Score St Patricks 0:12 St Josephs 2:09. St Pats next game is away to Belcoo on Wednesday evening.

"O’Reilly goal books place in Feile na nOg Final"

A late Darragh O’Reilly goal was the difference at the end of the game as St Pats booked their place in the Feile na nOg final for only the second time in the clubs history. We need to go back 4 years when we last contested the final and were beaten in Kinawley by Erne Gaels who went on to represent the county and National Level. The Semi final played at Lisnaskea was played in very wet conditions but never hampered the spirits of the Gale or the Pats boys. St Pats went into an early lead by way of goals from Kevin Curran and points from Caolan McElroy. Enniskillen however dominated the second period of the first half and struck the wood work twice in as many minutes but worked hard to keep St Pats at bay.

The second half was opened with a blistering pace from the Enniskillen lads and there were worrying sign for St Pats as the gaels started to score a series of points and edged into the lead. Both sides now were working very hard to keep opposing forwards at bay, for Enniskillen Coulter at midfield was always a threat, Enda Teirney at Half back and Ryan Kelly on the opposite wing both the most energetic and busiest on the park. It was in the last minutes when the real action took place, the game had been level for all of ten minutes when at the death the Gaels went one point up, from the kick out St Pats launched an attack and Kevin Curran floated a ball into the Gaels square for Darragh O’Reilly to pounce on and score, surely the winner, this goal was later followed up with a point and St Pats now in the comfort seat, the referee blew full time on the 62 minutes, Final Score St Patrick’s 4:05 Enniskillen Gaels 2:08. Overall a great team effort but Enda Teirney deserving the title man of the match.

"St Pats Minors book their place in the division 3 League Final"

The St Pats minor team booked their place in the league final after defeating a spirited Derrylin side at Louis Leonard Memorial Park Donagh on Tuesday evening. The St Pats boys ran away leaders in the first half with goals from Michael Fee and Brian McDermott. The Derrylin side however showed great fight and on nearly every time they attacked they recorded a score. Sean Daly at midfield and Jamie Carney at full forward were both winning their personal battles on the St Pats side as to Michael Montgomery at centre half back who made some fine runs into the Derrylin back line to help setup St Pats scores. Towards the end of the first half Eugene Cadden slotted over points and the half time score read St Patricks 3:06 Derrylin 2:03

In the second half St Pats were comfortable in their play and notched over several points from, Michael Montgomery, Michael Fee, Eugene Cadden and Emmelyn Melarkey. However Derrylin were not finished and worked hard to get their own scores by way of 2 goals with the last goal rattling the top corner of the net. The early scores in the second half by St Pats proved to be the knock out blow and St Pats ran out winners with a final score of St Patrick's 3:16 Derrylin 4:05. St Pats now play Roslea in the league final, dates and times to be confirmed. The club would like to wish them the very best of luck in the final.

"Caddens Gem ensures the points are shared"

Jason Cadden scored a point with his back at goals to secure St Patrick’s and Enniskillen shared the spoils at Brewster park. The game scheduled as a late throw in was played at a great pace and both sides  leaving nothing to spare. St Pats opened the scoring with a well work passage of play towards the hospital  end on the cinema road side, Gary Maguire slotted the ball over from 30 yards. Pat Cadden followed with a free from the same side and St Pats at the opening quarter were by far the better side, Enniskillens first score of the game was a goal scored against the run of play by Mathew Keenan who worked well to slot home from close range. Both sides traded scores for the remainder of the half and it was the Gaels who finished the better side in the first half and possibly down to some silly mistakes by the St Pats team the half time score was Enniskillen Gaels 1:03 St Patrick’s 0.04

Jason Cadden

Scorer of the point to equalise the game

The second half began similar to the pace of the first half St Pats opened the scoring and found themselves back in the game again, Pat Cadden and Gary Maguire were linking up well in the full forward line. St Pats edged further ahead with a penalty kick from Pat Cadden who slotted it into the bottom right hand corner of the goals. Mid way into the second half St Pats found themselves one point up and then the gaels turned the game on its heads in more ways than one, a long range pass from Michael Kerr played an unmarked Mickey Lilly into the goal mouth and Lilly shot from a tight angle and the ball rocketed into the top corner, Patrick Quaile could do nothing and Enniskillen now led by 2. With about 15 minutes played Enniskillen brought on substitute Ryan McCluskey who was in the thick of the action from  the off. With him literally being five minutes on the field Mc Cluskey picked up a yellow card, and within the same time again he had picked up his second and was shown his marching orders. St Patricks at this stage had been putting together some great pieces of play and Fergal O’Reilly was winning the midfield battle with Tom Brewster. With an extra player to their advantage St Pats pressed forward and a bad tackle from Niall Keenan seen referee Cleary showing Keenan his second card and the gaels were now down to 13 players, St Pats now had the game to lose. Pat Grue made an intelligent run into the middle of the Gaels defence and collected the ball about 30 yards out and from his right boot sailed the ball over the bar to put one point in it. Enniskillen did rally to try and increase the margin but a sturdy defence with Ronan McCaffery and Colm O’Reilly had the gaels fowards living of scraps, it was minutes to go and a long range Fergal O’Reilly shot was broke down on the 13 yard line, the ball bobbled around and St Patricks Michael McGrade played it to Jason Cadden who with his back to goals kicked over his head and the ball went over the bar. The gaels had one last grasp in trying to clinch the game but Keenans shot went wide and with that the game ended Enniskillen Gael 2.07 St Patrick’s 1.10, For St Patrick’s Pat Cadden was a menace for the gaels defence and Gary Maguire also, in the midfield area Ryan Daly and Joe McGovern worked hard and Fergal O’Reilly was excellent in the last quarter, all round a great St Patrick’s display and 3 points on the the table at this stage of league.

"McGrade hat trick paths the way for the donagh Juniors "

St Patrick's bounced back from their weekend defeat by claiming 2 points at Louis Leonard memorial park on Thursday evening. This game was played early to accommodate Aughadrumsee. The game was looking very one sided after 10 minutes as Michael McGrade alone had notched 3:01 to his account before the visitors had registered a single score themselves. The first half was indeed a very one sided affair and scores from, Eugene Cadden, Paul Cadden and Sean Montgomery were added to the already high St Patrick's score line.  The half time score read St Patrick’s 3.06 Aughadrumsee 0.01

Michael McGrade

Scored 3.04 for St Pats Juniors V Aughadrumsee

The second half wasn’t as one sided as Aughadrumsee tried to press the St Pats defence however the St Pats defence were very hard to breakdown and in total Aughadrumsee only managed to score 3 points in the game, 2 of these scores from their corner forward Flynn who probably got the two best points of the game, both on the left foot from tight angles. Paul Cadden, Eugene Cadden and Michael McGrade again added further scores and the game finished St Patrick’s 3.11 Aughadrumsee 0.03. A good all round performance as St Pats although have a game in hand now move back towards the top of the league table.

"St Pats Juniors defeated as Ederney secure Easter Sunday points at Donagh "

St Patrick's juniors put in a flat effort on Sunday as Ederney went away with both points in this encounter. The First half was an even affair as St Pats and Ederney traded points for the most of the 30 minutes and at the interval Ederney were 1 point up as the scoreline read St Patrick's 0.06 Ederney 0.07
The second half seen a lot more action as St Pats opened the scoring straight away to draw the game level but within minutes Ederney had found themselves 2 goals to the good, some fine displays in the Ederney half forward line created the chances and they were not spurned. Further to these two goals Ederney were awarded a penalty in which they put wide this could have been game over at this stage but that wasnt to be St Pats made a few changes bringing on Jason Cadden and Michael McGrade. They seemed to be inpact subs as Jason Caddens first touch was a ball played into Michael McGrade who calmly slotted home from close range to put 1 goal in it. Both sides traded points at this stage and St Pats found themselves back in the game when the got their second goal to make the sides level. This looked like St Pats were on the comeback but Ederney stood firm and slotted over 3 more points and tucked away a second penalty. With time running out the gap was too much for St Pats to close and Ederney ran out winners in the end. Ederney now move to top of the league as St Pats slip down a few places. Final Score St Patrick's 2:08 Ederney 3:11

"Mc Dermotts cracker saves the day for St Pats"

Shane McDermott scored a cracker in the last few minutes of the game to claim the points for St Pats in round 1 of the 2009 senior football league played at Louis Leonard memorial park Donagh. The game was played in a very intense and physical nature. This one wasn’t for the soft hearted as yellow cards were brandished on a few occasions as the referee attempted to control the level of tackling that was being displayed and on many occasions it was seriously dangerous tackles that were going in. The Half time score saw both teams level at 3 points each, Teemore would rue the missed opportunities in the early part of the first half as to would St Pats.

The second half had the home side playing with the breeze and it was they who took the lead by 2 points half way through the second half, however this game was turned on its head and perhaps against the run of play when a high ball was played into the St Pats square by the Teemore corner forward with the St Pats keeper at full stretch he just couldn’t keep it out of the net and Teemore suddenly found themselves 1point up, both sides traded scores after this and it was Teemore now leading by 2 points, but hold the headlines as it was Jason Cadden who slotted over two fine points from play both about 40 yards out to put St Pats level and then stepped up Shane McDermott for the saving moment, 45 yards out at the sideline on the Donagh school side of the pitch Shane had won a free and decided to have a go, outside of the boot he had it measured to a tee and that was that ST Pats in front and the game over. Final score St Patrick’s 0:10 Teemore 1:06
